Not by design, but spontaneously, this time of year always causes me to pause and take inventory: Asking the question: what have I done to make this world better? Whose lives have I touched? Taking stock of the many blessings in my life, the challenges and the wins of the past year, the opportunities of the next, and acknowledge how truly bessed I am...
When I was a kid growing up in Fonda, IA the most common form of graffiti was “XXX was here”. It seemed kind of silly then, but now I see it a little differently. Isn’t that really what we’re all trying to do? Leave our mark, our legacy; leave things somehow different for our having been?

We can not change the past, not even God can. But the choices we make in the now create a future which defines, gives meaning to, our past. So choices made now not only shape our future, but redefine (change?) the way we and others perceive the road that brought us here. Hmmm……..

"good is the enemy of great” How often does complacency, the sense that everything is pretty “good” divert us from chasing our destiny, our “great”? Change sometimes feels daunting, until we recognize the difference between staid and new, between good and great, is nothing more than choice in this moment.
